The mayor of Strawberry Fields; his name is Gary. He’s a nice guy. All he does is decorate this memorial with rose petals and give tours a bit of John Lennon history. To be honest, it’s now embedded into New York’s culture to have this guy here.
So what’s happening in this picture? These city workers come and harass him. It was contested in court last year that this guy has a right to be here, and he won that case.
So what’s the problem now? Well, it’s now become park policy that the “mosaic must be cleaned 3 times a day due to the acidity of the flower petals that could ruin the mosaic” If that isn’t the biggest crock of shit I’ve ever heard! Fascists!
Plus, you use to be able to play acoustic instruments here, but this year they are enforcing a total quiet zone. No music in Strawberry Fields. That’s bullshit.
